ASL Aspire Support Learn CIC are a local community interest company offering employment opportunities and day care to young adults with additional needs.
ASL need new premises
Currently based in Harlow the company is fast outgrowing it’s current premises, hindering growth. Having been offered an opportunity of premises with Ware Council we needed to be sure the figures worked before committing to a lease.
PPF met with Michelle, the CEO, to look at the options available. She was unsure how the new premises and additional costs would affect cash flow – basically, whether they could afford the extra costs involved or not!
Cashflow forecasting to see how new premises would affect cashflow
During our meeting we went through options available, we looked at the opportunity costs of the new premises – the additional revenue verses the extra costs, as well as looking at the ‘what if’ for a few scenarios using Float Cash Flow Forecasting software. Looking at the clear visual graphs for the different scenarios it was quite clear that some changes and fundraising would be needed, but with the additional revenue the new premises would bring this would far outweigh the additional costs.
Michelle is now very happy knowing she can move forward with exploring these possible new premises and had an action plan to build income to fund the move and set up.
What Michelle has to say:
I had a financial brainstorming session today with Cheryl, I arrived thinking I would get some figures on cash flow etc what I came away with was a whole lot more. In the space of 20 minutes I could see where there was going to be financial shortfalls in the coming months and also what changes I needed to make ASAP in order for this not to happen! I didn’t know I could have this kind of insight and support but now I do I am going to make sure we meet regularly because I now know this kind of information will help my organisation go from strength to strength. Thank you Cheryl.
